SkyNET was originally developed as an add-on for The Terminator: Future Shock that would add more missions and a multiplayer mode. It turned into a stand-alone game in the same setting, but telling a completely different story of the struggle against SkyNet.

Improvements over Future Shock include an optional high-resolution mode complete with its own version of the HUD, full-motion video briefings with live actors and voiced-over dialogue during missions, as well as multiplayer maps and numerous bugfixes. There is also an option to play Future Shock missions in high-resolution for those who own the original game. Overall, this is a more polished version of Future Shock with a new campaign.

The playable demo includes one single-player mission and one multiplayer map.
