Spelbeschrijving

No Future is a real-time strategy/simulation that offers you to try your hand at building sustainable economy on a small island. According to the story, the player travels back in time to the year 1900, to a small island called Future (straightforward as that), which is rich in natural resources, but almost untouched by civilization. The locals are eager to improve their living conditions and ask you, with your knowledge of the future post-industrial society, for help.

The player will then allocate funds to various projects, such as agricultural and industrial development, building infrastructure and so forth, and watch the island grow slowly. You can also adjust taxes so that the treasury does not run empty. As the game progresses, new technologies get unlocked and more options become available. However, every action taken affects the environment and may have dire consequences for the island in the long run.

The game was commissioned by the German environmental agency Umweltbundesamt, and was distributed for free as "public information material", with both German- and English-language versions available. As with many other promotional German games, this one is a fully-featured title of commercial quality, and will provide at least a few hours of educational entertainment for both kids and adults.
