Spelbeschrijving

Berušky (which means "Ladybugs" in Czech) is a maze puzzle game that borrows many elements from Soko-Ban, but ultimately has different mechanics and goals. The player controls up to five ladybugs of different colours and needs to collect all keys in the level to open the exit gate. Only one ladybug needs to actually reach the exit to complete the level.

There are various obstacles blocking the ladybugs' way, including barrels that can be pushed and boulders. There are also stacks of dynamite that can be used to blow up barrels, and one-time pickaxes that destroy boulders. Additionally, there are locked doors that require coloured keys to open, one-way paths that will close once a ladybug has passed through, among other things. All these combined easily form into complex mazes that require a lot of thinking and planning ahead to solve.

The game offers several sets of puzzles graded by difficulty, from Trainee to Impossible, which literally require cheats to complete. The puzzles are mostly rather complex and will likely demand multiple tries to complete on any difficulty but Trainee .

The game also includes a level editor. A pack of user-made levels can be downloaded separately.

Berušky has been from the start developed as an open-source game under the GNU GPL license. The author later ported it to Windows and Linux, with the DOS version now discontinued.
