Maximum Overdrive is a top-down track racing game with weapons, similar to Death Rally. It allows to race against AI opponents, or between up to four human players in split-screen mode on the same computer. The development was apparently never completed, which is a shame because the game has very nice looking animations and visual effects, and plays very smoothly.
In the latest available version, there is only one track, although a track editor is also included. Cars are assigned to players randomly, while random powerups appear on the track during the race.
